Queer Stories in Jewish Tradition
Language: English
Session: Explore the presence of gender diversity and queerness in Jewish texts, examining how biblical figures and rabbinic interpretations challenge modern assumptions about sex, gender, and sexuality. From intersex interpretations of Adam, to the deep love between David and Jonathan, we’ll uncover how Jewish tradition has long recognised and debated identities beyond the binary.
Bio: Student Rabbi Rafe Thurstance was born and raised in London and is currently in his final year of rabbinic studies while simultaneously pursuing a Doctorate in Practical Theology. He is involved in interfaith dialogue, community building, and religious education, and aims to blend traditional Jewish teachings with modern insights.
